WineAlign: 2012 Le Vieux Pin Retouche
This is a dense, sour-edged and quite tannic young blend of cabernet and syrah, that needs a long time to loosen its tannic grip. But wow does it ever have horsepower and depth. It churns and burns across the palate with juicy currant fruit and a tart-edged minerality. And I sense some real oncoming elegance. The aromas are all about currants, graphite, a certain meatiness and chocolate. Almost mouthwatering, with firm green tannin. Excellent length. Best 2019 to 2030.
