Part 1. Immensely proud of @syvino2019 for her involvement in school and community level. Severing says: “I have had this project at the back of my head for a long time now. Ava (her daughter and namesake of our white Rhône blend) is in grade 6 french immersion and I thought it would be fun for them to have a deeper look at the industry that support a big part of the valley’s economy and incorporate that in their curriculum. The whole idea is that they start with picking the grapes and follow the life of a berry to the bottle. The ultimate goal would be that they participate into the design of the label (only a very few cases made) and the profit of the sales go to the class for their year end graduation. That parts needs to be confirmed and studied a bit more.
I will do a few hours over the next two years (on some days off) in the classroom in French to support the project. I did this in France with the kids from the school village and it ended up being an awesome learning and fun opportunity and the kids and parents loved it.
So in short, the kids will be arriving by bus at 9 am tomorrow morning and leaving at 10:20. I will have small 30 lbs picking bin ready and sheers. Meet the faces behind crush 2019. Laure, Clemence, Emilien and Danielle. Missing Julie here. Danielle is our vineyard eye and helps with maturity check. Emilien coming from France and several years working at chateauneuf du pape is cellar hand. Laure also from France, hails from champagne where they have a family grower business. Clemence hails from the racing area of Le Mans with an enology degree and vast international harvest experience. Julie too has vast travel experience and is one hell of a Baker also. #passion #winerylife #vineyardlife
